JUSTIN RECEIVES " SEYMOUR DUNCAN" ENDORSEMENT!
Justin joins artists like AEROSMITH, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, 311, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, BLINK 182, FALLOUT BOY, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, and more with a SEYMOUR DUNCAN ENDORSEMENT! We would like to thank the people at SEYMOUR DUNCAN for their recent partnership, and we look forward to using their great equipment. Jeremy to lead seminar on poverty... This year at Lifelight Festival in Sioux Falls, SD, Jeremy will be leading a seminar on global poverty and HIV/AIDS. The seminar will include facts about the virus, personal testimony of WILLET'S trip to Ethiopia, scriptures in the Bible commanding us to care for the poor, and an opportunity for people to respond through child sponsorship. WILLET partners with EDUN LIVE for merchandise.... 7.30.08 One thing that I have read a lot about lately is the fact that a major way we can fight extreme poverty is simply by changing the way we live our lives. As you know, a band survives on the road by t-shirt sales. So, we began to think of a way that could help support people in Africa even through our merchandise sales! WILLET is pleased to announce the new partnership with a company called EDUN LIVE (founded by Bono (U2) and his wife Ali) out of Dublin, Ireland. Take a look at EDUN LIVE'S mission statement: "We make t-shirts that support sustainable socioeconomic development. Put simply, that means that when you buy one of our shirts, you help us to employ people in Africa who might otherwise be unemployed. We work with disenfranchised African citizens, teaching them to grow cotton, sew, and participate in the textile business. Our shirts are made in Africa by Africans. We support communities, give jobs to the jobless, and teach skills to people who lack specialized training." Therefore, when someone buys a WILLET t-shirt, they are not only helping to support the ministry of WILLET, but also the economic development of 3rd world countries! We look forward to working with EDUN LIVE and appreciate their hearts for change 1000 copies of "VIRUS"... In the first 2 months of release, the new full length WILLET record, "VIRUS" has sold over 1000 units! We are encouraged by the response to this album not because of the sales, but rather for what the album stands for. Its exciting to see so many people passionate about helping other people, especially orphaned children in Ethiopia, Africa. We thank every one who has purchased this concept project in the past 2 months, and encourage you to get your own copy of the CD today on ITUNES or www.willetonline.com if you don't already own it. Jeremy, Justin and Jordan FREE SONG DOWNLOAD on Lifelight Festival Website this week! WILLET's single, "Wineskin" will be available as a free download on LIFELIGHT'S FESTIVAL WEBSITE this week! CLICK HERE TO ORDER.. Today in our hometown of Westminster, MD, I was running some errands preparing for the next leg of THE VIRUS TOUR out to West Virginia and Ohio. 2 older men are playing an acoustic guitar and harmonica in the corner of the Walmart as people pass by and offer an affirming nod of appreciation for the music. The sun is shining and it is a typical hot, humid summer day in Maryland. Far away in Ethiopia, it was a different story unfortunately. As a band, WILLET has always tried to relay positive information about our vision for orphaned children in Africa. The fact is however, that many times, the stories, statistics, and facts can be heart-breaking. We just received the official report from the FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY team on the ground in Ethiopia. If you have not heard, a few days ago, a civil war broke out in the village of Belo, the same village that WILLET was about to begin child sponsorship work in and visitations in 2009. I will not post the official report as it is very long, and many of it, very disturbing. Below are some facts from the report to help you understand the reality of extreme poverty. -1,285 Child Sponorship families were affected We post this today to help you realize that the need is real. The children that we always talk about, sing about, pray for and care dearly for need us now more then ever! If you have not sponsored a child yet, or even if you have - please visit www.fh.org/willetonline and consider sponsoring one of these beautiful children! Ethiopia needs people to stand for the ones that cannot stand right now. Jeremy
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JORDAN! This past Sunday, Jordan turned 17! Very happy birthday and congrats on graduating early from High School to be able to continue touring full time! Jeremy and Justin
HAPPY 4TH! and PRAY FOR ETHIOPIA.... Hello friends, As you know, WILLET does a lot of work in Ethiopia, Africa through FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. WILLET plans to travel to Ethiopia in February of 2009 to visit the village of Zeway, and Belo. In the last week there has been some severe fighting among a couple of the tribes who live in the area and it has escalated to an almost war-like environment, with one faction closing roads in military fashion, cutting off supplies to neighboring communities, ect. Earlier this week Food for the Hungry pulled their staff from the Belo region because the situation has become too volatile and dangerous. Please pray for peace for our brothers and sisters in Belo so that FH can return back to the village. Thank you! WILLET DIPPIN’ DOTS sponsors WILLET Africa campaign... 2 weeks ago, we had the opportunity to meet with DIPPIN DOTS in Colorado. In the next few months, "The icecream of the future" will be placing pictures of WILLET in Africa with orphaned children on the DIPPIN' DOTS stands throughout Colorado in support of child sponsorship through FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. With sales from these DIPPIN DOTS stands, the company will be sponsoring children, as well as supporting WILLET'S upcoming trip to Africa in 2009. We look forward to this new partnership with a great company willing to make a difference through the success of their franchise. 2 MD shows this weekend FRIDAY: SATURDAY:
After much prayer, the band has decided to part ways with good friend, and manager Robert Rodriguez. Robert first signed the band to booking years ago in Nashville following a showcase. A year after that, WILLET signed management with RAEG and are thankful for the many years of hard work invested into our band. Our prayers go out to Robert and his family during this transition, and as a band, we say "thank-you" for many years of development and friendship. We could not have done this on our own... Jeremy, Justin and Jordan WILLET THORN CLOTHING sponsors WILLET WILLET is proud to announce the new partnership with THORN CLOTHING. After wearing thorn clothing on main stage at ALIVE FESTIVAL, the band began to find out more of the vision of THORN. THORN CLOTHING uses all it's proceeds to support ministries that do work in Africa! As a band, we thought this is a great connection to the work we do with FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. Part of fighting poverty is being aware of the products that we buy. If we are able to wear clothes that directly support orphaned children in Africa, then we are slowly making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for visiting www.thornclothing.com SANCTUS REAL TOUR BLOG We just completed a 5-day tour in Colorado with our new friends, SANCTUS REAL. It was a blessing to share the stage with them each night as they put on an incredible show and are truly authentic guys. There was an average attendance of 500 people at each show and over 20 kids were sponsored on the tour for FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. We are now driving 24 hours straight through from Fort Collins, CO to Canal Fulton, OH for ALIVE FESTIVAL. -Jeremy HAPPY FATHER’S DAY WILLET would like to wish everyone a Happy Father's Day from Colorado! As we are unable to spend this day with our dad because we are on tour - we would like to thank him for his support in our ministry, and for being our band pastor as well. If you are in need of prayer, or someone to talk to - feel free to email pastorg@willetonline.com for help. Jeremy, Justin and Jordan ROAD BLOG: Haxtun, CO - Sanctus Real Tour Last night in Haxtun, CO, over 500 people attended the opening night of the SANCTUS REAL tour! We had a 20 minute "powerhouse set" consisting of "story to write", "sanctuary", "you don't ask where the snake came from...you just kill it", "virus", "keep the ammo dry" and "wineskin" off our new record. I also had the opportunity to play acoustic guitar during the speaker's message, as well as give an appeal for child sponsorship following a showing of WILLET'S "streetlight" music video. After the show, I was interviewed by the local paper as well as local radio station about the work being done in ethiopia. Next show tonight in Colorado Springs, CO. -jeremy Colorado Rockies Last night in Colorado, we checked off another MLB stadium off our list by attending a Colorado Rockies game. Coors field was a beautiful field as the Rockies beat the Giants on a warm Colorado evening. MLB STADIUMS that we've been too so far: CLEVELAND INDIANS WILLET exceeds 200 sponsor mark for 2008 / AFRICA TRIP ’09 At the beginning of 2008, WILLET set out on a goal to see 200 children sponsored in Ethiopia over the next year. Through many months of non-stop touring, and sharing the vision for children living in poverty, we are happy to announce that the goal was reached this past Sunday in Colorado with 17 sponsors bringing the total for the year to 208!! Now, for an even more exciting announcement! WILLET will be traveling back to Ethiopia in 2009 to visit the kids in their adopted village of Zeway, as well as visiting the new village of Belo, Ethiopia, in which the band will start work in soon. Now is your chance to go beyond child sponsorship to actually meeting your sponsored kid, and actively participating in a project in Africa! Tonight in Breckenridge, CO - 17 children from Africa were sponsored! We enjoyed leading acoustic worship for 2 services in town, followed by a concert at night. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and supported our work in Ethiopia! At ALIVE this year in OH, the festival will be doing a special kick off night on Tuesday night. Jeremy will be singing WILLET'S new single, "For orphans and The King" from main stage acoustic to help promote child sponsorship for FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. Today, we drove from MD to CO - over 24 hours in the van :) We made it safely to a snowboarding town called, Breckenridge, CO - which is 10,000 feet in elevation! It is beautiful here! We are leading worship at a church in the morning, and then putting on THE VIRUS show Sunday night before heading out on the Sanctus Real tour also in Colorado. We will post a video soon of the tour. Enjoy the pictures below for now.
