This week we are in Illinois working our way to Amp Fest on Saturday. We had an awesome show last night and it was a lot of fun. Today we had off so we went to St. Louis! We have never been there before so we had a great time. While we were there we took a ride to the top of the Gateway Arch. We got to the top just in time to watch the sun set over the city, it was awesome! We have a show tomorrow and then the festival Saturday with Project 86 and Emery! We hope to see you there.

Jeremy to lead seminar on poverty...

This year at Lifelight Festival in Sioux Falls, SD, Jeremy will be leading a seminar on global poverty and HIV/AIDS. The seminar will include facts about the virus, personal testimony of WILLET'S trip to Ethiopia, scriptures in the Bible commanding us to care for the poor, and an opportunity for people to respond through child sponsorship.

One thing that I have read a lot about lately is the fact that a major way we can fight extreme poverty is simply by changing the way we live our lives. As you know, a band survives on the road by t-shirt sales. So, we began to think of a way that could help support people in Africa even through our merchandise sales!

WILLET is pleased to announce the new partnership with a company called EDUN LIVE (founded by Bono (U2) and his wife Ali) out of Dublin, Ireland. Take a look at EDUN LIVE'S mission statement:

From my heart...

Today in our hometown of Westminster, MD, I was running some errands preparing for the next leg of THE VIRUS TOUR out to West Virginia and Ohio. 2 older men are playing an acoustic guitar and harmonica in the corner of the Walmart as people pass by and offer an affirming nod of appreciation for the music. The sun is shining and it is a typical hot, humid summer day in Maryland.

Far away in Ethiopia, it was a different story unfortunately. As a band, WILLET has always tried to relay positive information about our vision for orphaned children in Africa. The fact is however, that many times, the stories, statistics, and facts can be heart-breaking.

We just received the official report from the FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY team on the ground in Ethiopia. If you have not heard, a few days ago, a civil war broke out in the village of Belo, the same village that WILLET was about to begin child sponsorship work in and visitations in 2009.

I will not post the official report as it is very long, and many of it, very disturbing. Below are some facts from the report to help you understand the reality of extreme poverty.

-1,285 Child Sponorship families were affected
-two sponsored children were killed, including one child who was shot during the conflict and her body left to be eaten by wild animals.
-2,414 families/households displaced
-1,591 houses were burned to the ground

We post this today to help you realize that the need is real. The children that we always talk about, sing about, pray for and care dearly for need us now more then ever!

Hello friends,
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! As we celebrate our independence today, let us remember those that are less fortunate.

As you know, WILLET does a lot of work in Ethiopia, Africa through FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. WILLET plans to travel to Ethiopia in February of 2009 to visit the village of Zeway, and Belo.

In the last week there has been some severe fighting among a couple of the tribes who live in the area and it has escalated to an almost war-like environment, with one faction closing roads in military fashion, cutting off supplies to neighboring communities, ect.

Earlier this week Food for the Hungry pulled their staff from the Belo region because the situation has become too volatile and dangerous.

Please pray for peace for our brothers and sisters in Belo so that FH can return back to the village.

After much prayer, the band has decided to part ways with good friend, and manager Robert Rodriguez. Robert first signed the band to booking years ago in Nashville following a showcase. A year after that, WILLET signed management with RAEG and are thankful for the many years of hard work invested into our band.

Our prayers go out to Robert and his family during this transition, and as a band, we say "thank-you" for many years of development and friendship. We could not have done this on our own...

Tonight in Breckenridge, CO - 17 children from Africa were sponsored! We enjoyed leading acoustic worship for 2 services in town, followed by a concert at night. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and supported our work in Ethiopia!

ROAD BLOG - Breckenridge, CO

Today, we drove from MD to CO - over 24 hours in the van :) We made it safely to a snowboarding town called, Breckenridge, CO - which is 10,000 feet in elevation! It is beautiful here! We are leading worship at a church in the morning, and then putting on THE VIRUS show Sunday night before heading out on the Sanctus Real tour also in Colorado. We will post a video soon of the tour. We are happy to add the musicianship of our good friend, Caleb Douglas on tour with us in June for the upcoming Sanctus Real tour, and Alive Festival. Caleb will be playing drums to allow Jeremy to be the front-man all of June.

Tampa Bay Rays Game...

Today on THE VIRUS TOUR, we are in Florida on an off day. Jayson Simonson has challenged us to a football game on the beach...video will follow of his defeat by the WILLET brothers :)

Following the football game, we are headed to Tropicana Field to catch a Tampa Bay Ray game. Being from MD, we are Oriole fans - therefore, will have to root against the Rays to help the orioles standings in the AL east.

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family's six children and one of their three adopted daughters."

WILLET Studio flooded in Maryland...

This past week while in Arizona, we received word that a pipe exploded in our practice studio, flooding the area with water. Thankfully, no equipment (or animals) :) were harmed in the process... only some furniture. Thanks for your prayers during the clean up.

We had the opportunity to hang out with our good friend Jeff, and his wife Roxanne from Food for the Hungry over an amazing meal of Rattlesnake and steak in Phoenix! TRUTH DRUM BIO:
Jeremy is the drummer and lead singer for the hard rock band, WILLET from Westminster, MD. Jeremy tours full time with his brothers, Justin and Jordan Willet. Being raised in a Christian home with a father who was also a piano teacher instantly brought music into the lives of the brothers.

Jeremy first began taking piano lessons for over 10 years before expanding to leading worship on acoustic guitar. After completing an Associates Degree in fine arts with an independent study in voice, trumpet, piano and guitar, Jeremy began to take his musical experience and apply it to learning drums.

Jeremy is 23 years old and lives in Westminster, MD with his wife. Jeremy spends most of his time touring and writing with WILLET, working as an artist associate for Food For the Hungry, speaking on tours and at major festivals on behalf of children living in poverty in Africa, and writing music for the local church.

Jeremy proudly plays TRUTH DRUMS and is happy to partner with such a great company!

Seniors at Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio were recently threatened with extreme punishments for wearing pro-life T-shirts. The students were each willing to accept two-day suspensions, but once the school attached additional punishments, including not being able to attend graduation, the students caved. Also, check out this YouTube video of a fifth grader who tells her harassment story.

Over the next few years, WILLET has made it a goal to visit all of the major league baseball stadiums in the U.S. while on tour. Growing up in MD, we were raised cheering on the Baltimore Orioles, and still frequent the beautiful Camden Yards when we are home.

So far, we have visited the stadiums for:

Over 300 people attend CD Release show....

Last night in MD, over 300 people packed "THE BARN" to see the release show for the new album, "VIRUS".

"The barn" was previously owned by the band's Uncle before he lost a battle with cancer several years ago. The barn had previously been destroyed by a tornado years ago, but rebuilt for the purpose of using it as a venue for ministry.

It was truly a blessing to see his dream fulfilled as over 300 students, families, and youth groups packed "The barn" in support of the new album.

Thank you to everyone who came to show some love and support for our mission!
