To download the song, visit www.noisetrade.com/jeremywillet Story behind the song: Each song has a story. This story is not my own, but rather a story of God's love for a nation in ruins. My wife moved to Haiti as a full-time missionary back in November of 2009. She was living in an orphanage during the time of the Haiti earthquake in January of 2010. For 2 1/2 days while on tour in New Zealand, I waited anxiously to hear if my wife had survived the earthquake. Finally, through a string of short text messages, my family back in the states heard that Kathleen and all the children survived, and were currently sleeping in tents! After returning to the USA, I finished a song that I started writing called "God is Love." In the true spirit of an independent artists, I recorded the song in my home studio during a blizzard, and left the recording purposely "raw" as to not disguise the emotion behind the song. Many of the Haitians following the earthquake said it was as if, “Hell came up”. Our response to their situation will determine whether or not they feel “Heaven came down”. Lyrics: Famines and droughts, war and diseases, and earthquakes They cause orphans and widows, hunger and thirst, and hopelessness By His hands, He has fulfilled Whatever disaster will try to destroy Whatever disease may come God is love, God is love Hell came up, and shook the earth But Heaven came down, and changed the world Shaken but alive, struck down but not destroyed Now is the time to help the victims of this terrible situation. I now know why. It is being reported that another 6.1 earthquake aftershock just hit Haiti this morning at 6:03 a.m. about 35 miles northwest of Port-au-Prince. As you can imagine, this is only making things more difficult for response groups to get the appropriate aid to the people. Please continue to pray for Haiti. I'll update you with more information as soon as I can. "Teeth of a lion, fangs of a lioness" 2010 As Willet prepared to release its 5th studio album as a band, it was time to change everything. Eliminating the possibility of putting out a "similar sounding record", the band changed even the way they approached songwriting for this full-length album titled, "Teeth of a lion, fangs of a lioness." In the past, guitarist, Justin Willet would write the guitar hooks and chord structures while vocalist, Jeremy Willet worked on lyrics. Next, Justin would send a demo of the new hook to Jeremy, and he would begin to work on a vocal melody, and lyrical structure. Following that, bassists, Jordan Willet would begin to write his bass lines in conjunction with the drums. On this 2010 release however, the band had recently introduced Caleb Douglass as a full time member and drummer for the rock band, and also included him as a songwriting for the record. Over the course of 2 years, Jeremy wrote lyrics, chord structures and vocal melodies on acoustic guitar. After 30+ demos, the band stepped into their home studio for several weeks to pick the best songs, and begin adding the additional instrumentation. Not settling for anything less then 10 songs that would be Willet's best effort yet, the band partnered with good friend and engineer, Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park) in Baltimore to record the album. In the middle of the recording process, Jeremy's wife, Kathleen, accepted a full time volunteer position in the country of Haiti to care for orphaned children. Therefore, the band tracked the album, and Jeremy tracked the vocals in between flights back and forth from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The rock single "Island" off the new album was actually a love song written by Jeremy for his wife years before he ever knew she would be living on the island of Haiti. Then, one month before the release of the record, the unexpected happened. A massive 7.0 earthquake hit the country of Haiti while Kathleen Willet was in the country. The band was on tour in New Zealand when they heard the news, and waited for 2 1/2 days to hear if Kathleen and her kids survived the tragedy. Late one night, through a string of short text messages, the band learned that she and all her children survived, and were living in tents until repairs were made to their orphanage. The band planned to change everything as they released this new record, and an earthquake in Haiti definitely did CHANGE EVERYTHING, making this the most personal and emotional record of the band's career. Stand-out songs such as "Island", "Shelter", and "Machine" show the bands maturity as musicians, songwriters, and performers, and "Teeth of a lion, fangs of a lioness" is definitely Willet's best effort to date. Pre-order the album now on www.willetonline.com/lion
1.15.10 Dear friends, Wish you could help with the situation in Haiti as a church or individual? Now you can! At the end of 2009, we completed final preparation for a new program in partnership with Food for the Hungry called, The Hunger Strike. We were planning to be a part of launching child sponsorship in HAITI and we were intending to wait until spring to officially launch this, however, just learned word that children in Haiti will immediately be enrolled for child sponsorship by February 1st, and therefore, we can move forward! There is no accident that the recent developments in Haiti have happened around the time of the launch of this program. The need now is even greater! The Hunger Strike program is a 24-hour food fast in which participants will engage in a variety of activities, fundraising, and service projects for the purpose of raising awareness about poverty and sponsoring children through Food for the Hungry. We are really excited to share that all children impacted through The Hunger Strike will be from HAITI! To sign up and start getting materials, visit www.thehungerstrike.org. Feel free to pass this on to other churches, youth groups, etc as a way to respond as a community to the situation in Haiti. Watch the video here. We serve a great God! WILLET is traveling 9 hours today in NZ, but just got word that there was a brief call from the orphanage today, and Kathleen, the kids and volunteers are doing OK! There was some damage to the orphanage, so they are currently living in tents. I have not had the opportunity to talk to Kat yet – but hope to do so soon… Thanks for all your prayers! Jeremy I just returned to a host home where we are staying here in New Zealand after hearing the news of a 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti last evening. The band had an off day and was on a 20km hike up a volcano when we received the news. We worked our way down the mountain then drove 5 hours back to Auckland to be able to get access to internet and phones. My wife Kathleen is a missionary in Haiti, and we have not been able to establish contact with her as of yet. Reports are showing that her area was not hit as hard as Port-au-prince, however, all lines of communication have been shut down - so there is really no way of knowing at this point. Please pray for the following: •Kat's safety and protection Thank you. -Jeremy Willet This week, WILLET flies to New Zealand for a 3 week tour, including a performance at PARACHUTE FESTIVAL with Switchfoot, Underoath, and more.
Congratulations to Jordan for receiving an Acoustic Bass endorsement from Morgan Monroe. Jordan will be playing his new bass on the carried.book.tour. in which Willet will be leading acoustic worship.

One evening, we were asked to come back on stage and play music as the speaker gave an invitation for students to trust Jesus as their Savior. As we began to play, the speaker turned to us and asked us to lead them in a song. We hadn't prepared to sing a song, and didn't have the lyrics for the video monitors, so I turned to the rest of the band, gave them the key of the song, and said "follow me". We began to play and sing the simple words of "Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus, there is life in the blood of the Lamb." This song was played for over 15 minutes as students gave their lives to Jesus that night! Following the event, we got off stage, and none of us could remember how the song went! We kept trying to remember the melody and write out the chords, but we couldn't remember it. So, we figured that the song was just meant for that specific moment, and we were OK with that. Fast forward a few months, and we are in our studio for the writing sessions of the Christmas album. We needed one more song, and began to discuss whether we wanted to write a new one, or cover a traditional Christmas song. As we were discussing it, I was strumming some on my guitar, and all of a sudden, the melody of "Come to Jesus" came back. We quickly recorded a demo on my phone, wrote out the chords, and then played through the song as a band. Some people have asked us why we included this on a Christmas album as it doesn't really talk much about the holiday. Our answer continues to be - "This song makes this entire album a "Christmas" album because its about JESUS." We have been playing this song each night on the Christmas Tour, and have received a tremendous response. Take a listen to the song on youtube, and if you haven't already purchased your copy of the album, go download it on www.itunes.com/willet or order your physical copy on www.willetonline.com/store. Merry Christmas! - Jeremy For the album, WILLET brought in their dad, Pastor Glen Willet, to record piano for "I'll be home for Christmas". They recorded this song at Peabody Institute in Maryland. So, for the CD release show, WILLET was joined by Pastor Glen on stage for a one-night only performance of the song. To top things off, it snowed about 3 inches in Spring Grove, PA! If you haven't ordered the new album yet, there is still time to order to receive it before Christmas: www.willetonline.com/store

May we not stop now. -Jeremy Willet Willet Missions / Food for the Hungry Haiti/DR Visit for Hunger Strike This past week, I had the opportunity to travel to Haiti and the Dominican Republic for Willet Missions to join Food for the Hungry staff from Haiti and the DR, as well as meet up with Kathleen, coming from Ti Riviere. Initially, we ran into some logistical complications which potentially would have made us drive through the night back from the DR border (not advised for safety reasons), however, the staff was very flexible and we were able to arrange our return before dark. We started by meeting up in Port-au-Prince and driving to the DR border. After meeting up with FH DR staff, we began to learn about the development taking place in many of the communities. The purpose of our trip was to evaluate potential sites in which The Hunger Strike program would end up supporting through child sponsorship, short term mission teams, and community-to-community (C2C). Because the DR and Haiti are on the same island, they end up sharing many of the same poverty-related problems (poor sanitation, malaria, HIV/AIDS, lack of clean water access, lack of education resources). FH DR has had the Child Development Program (CDP) active for many years, so we traveled there to learn from the tremendous team. We were able to visit a community where FH's C2C program allowed a church from Indiana to provide resources for the building of a school, kitchen, and latrines. FH then supplied the medical clinic with monthly check-ups, and the DR government pays the teachers and food supplies. On the last day, we traveled across the border back into Haiti to visit a town with 2 communities where Hunger Strike will begin to impact in the spring of 2010. It appears that close to 400 children will immediately be enrolled in CDP, and our prayer is for a fast response to their needs. We had the opportunity to meet with many community leaders, staff, teachers, and children to learn the vision for these areas. We were all unified under the fact that we wanted to see Jesus glorified through our actions, and are praying for many to come to know Jesus as their Savior. Kathleen is currently serving at an orphanage in Ti Riviere, Haiti, however, was asked to join the FH staff in Haiti near the DR border as a volunteer Community Development Coordinator. Please join us in prayer for this decision. Our original vision for The Hunger Strike was to have Kathleen working alongside the children that we were presenting at concerts in the U.S. That vision is becoming closer to reality, however, includes many more details, cost, commitment, language training, missionary training, and residence in Haiti. Pray for wisdom in this decision. Information about The Hunger Strike will be available soon on www.thehungerstrike.org. The band has also been writing for a new 2010 studio album, and will provide more details for that in December. Title, artwork, and release date will be announced soon. Secondly, WILLET has been sponsoring several children as a band, but also sponsored a child named Abosie from Belo, Ethiopia with a small group from their home church, Quest Community Church. Jeremy and Kathleen would lead this group from their house when they were home, however, because Kathleen is now living in Haiti, and Jeremy is on the road 250+ days a year with WILLET, they decided that they needed to step down from leading that group, and ask others in the church to start their own group. Each group in the church already sponsors a child and was unable to commit to sponsoring Abosie, so we began to pray about what we should do. The very next week, we received a letter in the mail from Food for the Hungry saying that Abosie will no longer be in the program because he got married!!!! We hope to be able to sponsor more and more children through our small groups at Quest Community Church, but for now, God answered our prayer in a very cool way and we congratulate Abosie on his marriage! For more information, please visit www.willetonline.com/missions, www.questcc.org, & www.fh.org/willet. To bring glory to God. Only God. This book is not about sales or money. In fact, if you have been following along in the process, 100% of the proceeds of this book is being given away to missions! As the authors of this book, we will not partner with, nor tolerate any other objective. Therefore, we have decided to self-publish our book and license the material for delivery to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and more, on our own. On Monday, 11.2.09, the content for the book will be completed and will be sent to a printer within a week. When we came back in February from Africa I really felt God calling me to so much more. I felt like I was just existing and going with the motion, but God had something bigger planned. Jeremy and I have always tried to be obedient to God’s calling, and normally that means me staying home and supporting Jeremy while he tours around the U.S. with WILLET, but now God has a new plan for me. To cover flights, international phone plan, and expenses, I need to fundraise $18,000 for the year ($1,500/mo). FOR MORE INFORMATION, AND DETAILS ON SUPPORTING KATHLEEN, PLEASE VISIT www.willetonline.com/missions 8.24.09 We are currently in the van on a drive through the night from Washington D.C. to Tripp, SD. We had the opportunity to lead worship and share the message at two large services in Silver Spring, MD this past Sunday. After the second service, 122 children had been sponsored bringing our total for the year to 498! For a band that plays 250 dates a year, sometimes the memories of shows seem to blend together, but last night was a show I will not soon forget. As we took the stage, we were still 2 sponsors away from the goal. In the middle of the concert, we thanked the church for their huge response that morning, and told them that we were praying for the final 2 to come in. In the middle of our set, we have been singing "Hallelujah" and asking the crowd to join hands and sing along. From a long day of singing and preaching, my voice was starting to go out, but as I asked the crowd to grab the hands of those around them and sing "Hallelujah", our friend came running in the back doors holding up the final 2 envelopes showing that we had reached the goal of 500! The band also saw this as I told the crowd to give praise to God for the 500 sponsors and they built the music into a beautiful, loud chorus as the crowd began to sing on their own! One more sponsor ended up coming in bringing the total to 501 for the year as we head out on another 2 month tour! God is doing an incredible thing in some of the most forgotten places in the world. Thank you for your prayers for this upcoming tour and a special thanks to each person who sponsored a child this year. We are not stopping at 500! We are in the process of adopting our 3rd village in Africa, this time in Mozambique, a place where 18,000 people share one clean water well. Its time to bring hope to them now..... -Jeremy
Merry Christmas! In addition, WILLET is in the process of recording our very first Christmas record which will be available at all the shows! For more information, please visit www.willetonline.com/christmas. As many of you know, Jeremy has teamed up with good friend, youth pastor, and speaker, Justin Hanneken to write a book called carried. Today, we are pleased to announce today that we have signed a publishing deal with MISSIONAL PRESS for carried. ! The book is in the final editing stages, graphic design and formatting. The book is scheduled to be released in early 2010 through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and many other nationwide outlets. To God be the glory! After arriving in Port-au-prince, we loaded into the back of a pick-up truck and headed to the FH Haiti office. We talked and prayed with our new friend, Dr. Marlenee Adrien, the program coordinator for FH Haiti. Next, we traveled by dirt road for over 6 hours before arriving at Mission Haiti in Ti Riviere. Throughout our four days in Haiti, we assisted in building new school desks for the children, painting chalkboards, playing games with the teenagers, participating in Bible lessons for the young children, holding a pastors conference, playing music and delivering messages of hope from scripture. In addition, people from all over the U.S. provided shoes, clothing and school supplies that we had the opportunity to deliver to the children! Special thanks to NWSB, NESAP, Quest Community Church and Charles Carroll Elementary for providing these supplies. One highlight in particular was that we challenged the Haitian boys to an American Football game down by the sea. It was an extremely competitive game, but the excitement and activity down by the water brought people from all over the village. After we played, we let them know that we would be playing some music and sharing at the mango tree that evening. Under the mango tree, we started by playing American worship songs and working with the translator to help them sing along. Following our Dad’s message under the tree, 2 of the teenagers that played football with us came forward and trusted the Lord as their Savior! During our time in Haiti, I spent a lot of time in scripture as well as time reflecting on the differences in poverty between Haiti and Ethiopia. There were obvious differences and obstacles that each country must work to overcome, but I ended up realizing a similarity; The children. It became very obvious to me that a hungry child is a child that needs fed. A child sleeping on a sidewalk is a child that needs a bed. A child that is sick is a child in need of medicine. A child that can’t read is a child in need of education. And more importantly, a child that is lost is a child that needs Jesus, regardless of where they live. Some people have told me that they have a heart for a specific area around the world, and so they end up serving there. I completely respect that, but for myself, I realized on this trip that my heart is not necessarily called to one specific country or village, but rather to the heart of Christ. It just so happens that you find God’s heart in some of the most forgotten places in the world, and therefore, you will find me there to WILLET is now in the planning stages of adopting our 3rd village in Africa: Gorongosa, Mozambique. We are scheduled to visit this village in the fall of 2010. In addition, we are in discussion with Mission Haiti and FH Haiti about WILLET’S involvement in the development of child sponsorship among the beautiful children of Haiti. We now sponsor a girl named, Abeba from Zeway, and a boy named, Mathewos from Belo. When we go to turn on our TV only to find a blank screen, we are reminded that a child in Africa now has food, clean water, medicine, education and a Bible translated into their language because of our sacrifice of television. This year, WILLET has been extremely busy as part of the 500 FACES TOUR, and we are approaching the goal of 500 children being sponsored before 2010 very quickly.
